Who They Are & What They Do

Starling Gallery is a family-owned and established artistic space in the historic community of downtown Cochrane. They have been in business in Cochrane since November 2015 after moving from their shop in Calgary. They also participate in many area craft shows such as Market Collective, Millarville market and Bearspaw market.

Starling is thrilled to introduce a new gallery space for local artists to showcase their work. They know how essential and exciting it is to have a beautiful space to display artwork and other creations, since staff at Starling are all full-time artists and designers.

We are proud to be a part of the small and independent stores that make Cochrane’s Main Street so unique.

Who They Are & What They Do

Real Treat makes unapologetically delicious cookies. What makes them unapologetic? We are serious about ingredients, and we don’t compromise when it comes to flavour or ethics. Every cookie is built on the foundation that gives any excellent cookie its “Yum!” factor: Real food. Where do the ethics come in? Our products are certified organic and we use only fairly traded ingredients.

My favourite part about this business is creating our treats. Taking inspiration from fond memories, places travelled, and pure fantasy, playing with flavours and textures, telling a story with every cookie.

Why Cochrane?

Great air and a beautiful view make for a pretty nice office. Making cookies isn’t all serious business — we have a lot to smile about. We make our cookies by hand, in small batches, in view of the majestic Rocky Mountains in Cochrane, Alberta.

Who They Are & What They Do

Krang Spirits is Alberta’s newest venture into the burgeoning world of craft distilling. They are located just a few blocks east of the famous MacKay’s Ice Cream shop on First Street in Cochrane.

In the coming months, they will be opening their doors to offer tours and tastings of their fine spirits and liqueurs. They have a gorgeous 350-litre digitally controlled handmade copper still by Müller in Germany, and are excited to start production. Stay tuned!

Who They Are & What They Do

MacKay’s Ice Cream began as a Red & White grocery store. When Hwy 1A through Cochrane was rerouted from Main Street to its current location, a unique product was needed to bring people downtown again. A friend of Jimmy MacKay’s suggested soft serve ice cream. Over the years, groceries disappeared from the store to make way for more flavours of hard ice cream. Now operated by the third generation of the MacKay clan, MacKay’s continues to draw people from near and far to enjoy its 18% milkfat super premium treat!

From production to pleasure, our philosophy is rooted in ensuring quality. The Albertan small town, entrepreneurial spirit meets superior local and global ingredients to make world renowned ice cream.
